The Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, designed an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, about which I wrote here. In Oblast of Moldavia and Bessarabia, back then in Russian Empire, were 27 observation points, but UNESCO included only one in World Heritage Site, located near Rudi village, in Soroca district. This point was set up in 1847, and the obelisk was opened on June 17, 2006.
